About Fujitsu
Fujitsu General is a Japanese company that's been making ductless air conditioners and heat pumps for decades. In the US it's one of the major mini-split brands, with a reputation for quiet, efficient inverter equipment.
We see Fujitsu systems in Santa Clarita bedrooms, home offices, additions and small commercial spaces.
A ductless system is a different animal from central air. There's no duct to leak and no big blower in the attic, but each indoor head has its own coil, fan, drain and sensors. Keep the filters clean and the drain clear, and a Fujitsu head can run for years without much fuss.
What Fujitsu offers
Fujitsu's lineup is split into two main families:
- Halcyon: the residential line. Wall-mounted heads, ceiling cassettes, floor consoles and slim ducted units, in single-zone and multi-zone setups.
- Airstage: the larger commercial and VRF line, used in offices and multi-unit buildings.
Fujitsu also makes cold climate heat pumps for regions with harsh winters, and ducted inverter systems that can work with existing ductwork. Wi-Fi control is available on many models. Indoor units come in several styles, so you can pick a wall head for a bedroom and a floor console for a room with a low window.
What's new with Fujitsu
The big change is refrigerant. Starting in 2025, new central AC and heat pump systems sold in the US moved off R-410A to lower-impact refrigerants, mostly R-454B or R-32. Ductless systems are part of the same change. Ask us which refrigerant a specific Fujitsu model uses. Your existing R-410A system is still legal to run and repair. The catch is that new and old refrigerants don't mix, so a new outdoor unit usually means a matching new indoor coil too.
Fujitsu keeps improving its inverter compressors and cold climate models. In our area, the main advantages are zoning, quiet operation and efficient heating on cool nights. App control lets you set schedules for each room so you're not heating or cooling space nobody is using.
How Fujitsu compares
Fujitsu sits in the upper-middle of the ductless market. It competes with Mitsubishi and Daikin on quality and usually comes in at a similar or slightly lower price. Compared with LG and Samsung, Fujitsu is more of an HVAC-first brand with a long ductless track record.
Parts for Fujitsu systems are model-specific, like every ductless brand. Common items such as sensors and fan motors are available, though some boards may need to be ordered. Diagnosis depends on reading Fujitsu's error codes correctly, which is where experience pays off.
Common problems we fix on Fujitsu systems
The Fujitsu problems we see most:
- Blinking lights or error codes: sensor, board or communication faults.
- Not cooling: refrigerant leak at a flare fitting, or a failed sensor.
- Water leaking from the head: clogged drain or pump.
- Musty or sour smell: dirty coil and blower wheel.
- Cold air in heat mode: defrost or refrigerant problem.
- Won't turn on: remote, power supply, or a board fault.
Install or repair a Fujitsu system with WY&G
With Fujitsu equipment we diagnose from the error code first, then confirm with meter readings. If the head is dirty, we clean it properly, coil and blower wheel, which fixes more problems than you'd expect.
WY&G repairs all major brands, Fujitsu included, and installs new systems when repair stops making sense. We're a licensed HVAC contractor, CSLB C-20 #1044922, working across the Santa Clarita Valley. You get a written price before any work starts. No surprises on the invoice.
