Before you call
Quick checks you can do yourself
- Set the thermostat to Cool and at least 3 degrees below room temperature. Replace thermostat batteries if the screen is blank or dim.
- Pull the air filter and hold it up to light. If you cannot see light through it, replace it.
- Check your main electrical panel for a tripped AC or condenser breaker. Reset it once. If it trips again, leave it off and call.
- Make sure the outdoor disconnect switch near the condenser is in the On position.
- Clear leaves, weeds, and debris at least 2 feet around the outdoor unit and gently rinse the fins with a garden hose from the outside in, with the power off at the disconnect.
- Go outside while the system runs and listen. If the fan is not spinning or the unit only hums, turn the AC off to protect the compressor.
Still not working? Call (323) 240-2373 or tap "Call me back". Do not open electrical panels or touch gas parts.

Troubleshooting
AC Blowing Warm Air? 7 Causes and What to Do
An AC that blows warm air is most often caused by a wrong thermostat setting, a clogged air filter, a tripped breaker for the outdoor unit, or a dirty outdoor coil. If those check out, the likely cause is a failed capacitor or contactor, or a refrigerant leak, and those need a licensed technician.

AC Frozen? Ice on the Lines or Coil: Causes and Fixes
An AC freezes when the indoor coil gets too cold, usually from low airflow (dirty filter, closed vents, weak blower) or low refrigerant from a leak. Turn cooling off and run only the fan to thaw it, replace the filter, and if it freezes again, call a technician to check airflow and refrigerant.

AC Leaking Water Inside the House? Causes and Fixes
An AC leaking water indoors is usually caused by a clogged condensate drain line, a cracked or rusted drain pan, or a frozen coil that is melting. Turn the system off, check the drain line and float switch, and call a technician if the pan is damaged or the leak continues.

AC Not Turning On? 6 Causes and Easy Checks
When an AC will not turn on, start with the thermostat (mode, setpoint, batteries), then the breakers, the outdoor disconnect, and the condensate float switch. If power and settings are fine and nothing starts, the problem is likely a failed control board, transformer, capacitor, or contactor, which a technician should test.

AC Outdoor Unit Humming but Fan Not Spinning? Causes
When the outdoor unit hums but the fan does not spin, the most likely cause is a failed run capacitor, followed by a seized fan motor or a stuck contactor. Turn the AC off right away to protect the compressor, clear any debris, and call a technician, because capacitors hold a dangerous charge even with the power off.

AC Runs Constantly but House Stays Hot? 7 Reasons
An AC that runs all day without reaching the setpoint is usually short on airflow (dirty filter or coil), losing cold air through leaky ducts, low on refrigerant from a leak, or simply too small for the heat load. On very hot days some long run time is normal, but if it never catches up in mild weather, have it checked.

Tip
Common problems and what they mean
Warm air from the vents
Often a failed capacitor, a stuck contactor or a refrigerant leak. Most are same-visit repairs.
Ice on the lines
Low airflow or low refrigerant. Turn the system off, run the fan to thaw it and call.
Water near the indoor unit
Clogged condensate drain or cracked pan. Fix it before it reaches drywall.
Breaker keeps tripping
A warning sign: weak capacitor, failing motor or compressor, or loose wiring. Stop resetting it.
Pro tip
Low refrigerant always means a leak. We find and fix the leak instead of topping it off, so you do not pay for the same refrigerant next summer.
