Quick checks you can do yourself
- Count the blinks and note which light is blinking. Write it down along with the brand and model from the sticker on the side of the indoor unit.
- Replace the remote batteries and set it to Cool with a setpoint below room temperature.
- Lift the front panel and slide out the mesh filters. Rinse them in lukewarm water, let them dry fully, and put them back.
- Turn the unit off at its breaker for 5 minutes, then turn it back on. Do this once.
- Check that the outdoor unit is clear of debris and has power.
- Look for water dripping from the indoor unit or ice on the lines.
Still not working? Call (323) 240-2373 or tap "Call me back". Do not open electrical panels or touch gas parts.

Troubleshooting
Mini Split Blinking Light or Not Cooling? What It Means
A blinking light on a mini split is usually an error code, a filter reminder, or a sign the unit is in defrost or startup. Count the blinks, check the remote mode and the filters, and power cycle the unit at the breaker once. If the light keeps blinking or it still will not cool, a technician should read the code and test the system.

Upstairs or One Room Hotter Than the Rest? Causes
Upstairs rooms and rooms over a garage often run hotter because heat rises, the attic above them gets very hot, and their duct runs are longer. Weak airflow from leaky or crushed ducts, closed vents, a dirty filter, or a single thermostat downstairs make it worse. Open vents and change the filter first. Lasting fixes include duct repair, balancing, and zoning.

Tip
When it makes sense to upgrade
Hot upstairs bedroom
One indoor head fixes a room the central system cannot reach.
Garage gym or office
The most practical way to condition a converted garage.
No ductwork at all
Older homes can get efficient AC and heat without opening ceilings.
Blinking light on the unit
An error code. Note the pattern and call; it tells us where to start.
Pro tip
Dirty filters and coils are the number one reason mini-splits lose cooling. Rinse the filters monthly in summer.
